Over the years I have volunteered overseas with Smile Train in Pakistan, Broken Earth in Haiti and this year will be my 7th mission with Operation of Hope in Zimbabwe.

I am a reconstructive microsurgeon at the Foothills Medical Centre and a Clinical Associate Professor with the University of Calgary.  My focus is breast and head and neck reconstruction after cancer treatment. I am very excited to join the Operation of Hope team in Zimbabwe.

I am a fellowship-trained pediatric anesthesiologist, who has been working on staff at the Alberta Children’s Hospital in Calgary, AB, since 2013. I currently split my time between adult and pediatric anesthesiology, and have been involved in medical mission work since I started practicing. I have completed a number of missions with Operation Smile and Project Outreach, and I currently works as a pediatric anesthesia educator with Operation Smile. This is my second mission to Africa with Operation of Hope

I have been an RN in the operating room for over 20 years, specializing in Plastic, Head and Neck, and Burn surgery. This will be my 6th medical mission to Zimbabwe.

I have been an operating room nurse for over 5 years at the Foothills Medical Centre in Calgary, specializing in spinal surgery. This will be my second medical mission to Zimbabwe. I look forward to being part of such a wonderful team and being able to give back to the community.

As Mission Director of Operation of Hope, Jennifer manages the grant-writing, fundraising efforts, surgical supply inventories, donations, travel logistics, volunteer staff, as well as the day-today operations on each surgical mission. Named People magazine’s “Hero Among Us” on CNN’s All Star Hero Tribute, Thanksgiving night, 2008, after bringing a young boy from Zimbabwe needing complex surgery after a land mine destroyed his lower face.  She holds a Master’s degree from Pepperdine University and was named Distinguished Alumna of The Year, 2009.
